What Are Keywords?

In as brief and straight to the point as I can I will here try to tell you what a keyword is. First I will tell you what it is according to the dictionary, and that is:

A keyword is a word that serves as a key, as to the meaning of another word and it’s also called catchword. In the digital world it is a word used to classify or organize digital content, or to facilitate an online search for information:

It is pronounced: kee-wurd and it’s a noun

Keywords are a word that helps the internet spiders/crawlers… those little things that go through the internet looking to see what is out there to list in the search engines.

Keywords are every word you type into a search engine, whether a single keyword or  phrase keywords.

Say you are looking to lose weight, you type in “weight loss” to Google, Google then shows you a list of sites it found that has the word “weight loss” in them.

But Google won’t show you all it found on one page, no the first page you see is all the websites that have used SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to make sure they used the keyword -weight loss- in such a way that their particular website came first in line, they show up on the first page.

How many times do you go to the -next- page on Google once you do a search, a few maybe, but not many times. I bet you usually go for whatever shows up on that first page after you typed in your keyword -weight loss- and that is what everyone is working on… how to get their website on the first page.

Well, that is a keyword. Like -bird watching- is a keyword, like -bedwetting- is a keyword, like I said ANYTHING you type into a search engine, be it Google, Bing, Yahoo etc, is a keyword – even misspelled keywords are keywords and a common strategy for increasing rank.

There is way more to keywords and their relation to SEO but in order to get all that you will need to really dig deep, even maybe go to school to understand it. How can you dig deep?  With our keyword analysis reports.
